Mr-Glass Sliding & Patio Doors: The Lantana Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Mr-Glass-compatible sliding and patio door systems in Lantana, with most replacement hardware available same-day and typical installed pricing from $340 to $890 depending on panel size, impact rating, and whether the frame requires re-anchoring. Homeowners usually discover a problem when the door sticks in the track during summer humidity, the lockset won’t engage after a storm, or they notice daylight between the panel and the jamb that wasn’t there last season. In Lantana’s salt-air environment, we see roller corrosion and weatherstrip hardening start around year seven, earlier than inland installations.

Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Mr-Glass produces sliding and patio door systems across several series, and the parts are not interchangeable between lines. The MG-5000 non-impact vinyl slider uses a 1.5-inch tandem roller assembly with a stamped steel housing, while the MG-Impact 75 and MG-Impact 90 impact-rated aluminum systems use a 2.25-inch heavy-duty roller with a stainless housing and sealed bearing, rated for the heavier laminated glass package. The MG-Elite thermally broken aluminum line splits the difference at 2-inch rollers but uses a distinct track profile.

To identify your series, check the etched mark on the glass spacer bar visible at the panel edge, or the sticker on the header track inside the frame pocket. If the sticker is gone, measure the roller housing width and count the wheels, tandem or single, then call us with those numbers. We carry OEM Mr-Glass rollers, locks, and weatherstrip, plus verified aftermarket equivalents from C.R. Laurence where the spec matches, because some MG-5000 rollers have been on factory backorder since late 2023. Sightline Windows & Doors Lantana is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Mr-Glass.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Sliding & Patio Doors Is Failing

Signs Your Mr-Glass Sliding & Patio Doors Is Failing
  • The panel drags or requires shoulder weight to move. This usually means the tandem rollers have flat-spotted or the axle bushings have worn oval. In Lantana, salt accumulation in the track accelerates this, and we find the rear roller fails first because it carries more load and gets less cleaning attention.
  • The lock thumbturn rotates but the bolt doesn’t throw. The MG-Impact series uses a multi-point lock with a gearbox and two or four shootbolts; the gearbox cam shears if the door is forced while misaligned. A lubrication won’t fix it, the gearbox needs replacement, and the part is series-specific.
  • Visible gap at the meeting stile when closed. The interlock weatherstrip compresses permanently over time, or the panel has dropped on worn rollers and no longer seats at the correct height. Either way, you’re losing conditioned air and, on impact-rated units, compromising the design pressure rating.
  • Water intrusion at the sill during heavy rain. The weep system is clogged with sand and organic debris, or the sill cap gasket has shrunk. On Lantana homes near the Intracoastal, we see this compounded by splashback from hardscaping that directs water against the threshold.
  • Condensation between the glass panes. The insulated glass unit seal has failed. Mr-Glass uses a warm-edge spacer, but South Florida’s thermal cycling eventually wins. The glass pack needs replacement, not the whole door, and the size must be confirmed before ordering because field tolerances vary by installer.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Our installed pricing for Mr-Glass sliding and patio door repairs in Lantana breaks down as follows:

  • Roller assembly replacement (both panels, standard height): $340-$480
  • Multi-point lock/gearbox replacement: $280-$420
  • Interlock weatherstrip replacement (perimeter): $180-$260
  • Insulated glass unit replacement (per panel, up to 60″ x 80″): $520-$890
  • Full panel replacement with new frame anchoring: $1,800-$3,400

The range reflects impact vs. non-impact glass, panel size, and whether the original installation used proper shimming or shortcuts that we need to correct. Every quote is written before work starts, line-itemed by part and labor hour, and matches the measured survey you keep. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation; OEM parts carry their own manufacturer warranty. We pull permits when the work requires them, and every job leaves a documented photo record.

DIY or Call Us?

An owner can safely check the track for debris, verify the weep holes are open, and confirm the lock operates smoothly when the door is lifted slightly to relieve roller load. These checks cost nothing and sometimes solve the symptom.

What goes wrong with DIY: the MG-Impact series panels weigh 180-240 pounds each, and lifting one to access rollers without proper support risks panel damage and personal injury. The multi-point lock adjustment requires a 3/32 hex key and a specific sequence, out of order, and the gearbox strips. We’ve been called to Lantana homes where a homeowner forced a misaligned lock and turned a $320 adjustment into a $680 lock replacement plus jamb repair. If the fix involves removing the panel, adjusting the frame, or replacing glass, call (561) 461-2062. We’ll measure it right the first time. Everything after that is just paperwork.
